Making a header for your blog

After you get a background you need a header to tell everyone the name of your blog!!  First you will have to find a header.  My most favorite place to find these are at Shabby Blogs.  This can be easy peasy or a little more involved.  However you want to make it.  I will tell all the steps and you can skip some if you need/want to.

You will need to save the image to your computer by right clicking and Save picture as...

You will then need to edit your photo in your choice of photo program to add your blog name and a photo if you choose. I edit mine in Paint Shop.

You will then go to your desgin page and click edit in the header box.

You will then need to title and write a description of your blog.  Then upload your picture.

Click save and you now have a header!

How to add a pretty background!

If you are like me you will want to make your blog pretty!  The first thing to do to do this it add a background to it.  You will need to find a website that has free backgrounds.  I like to use Shabby Blogs, The Cutest Blog on the Block, and Hot Bliggity Blog.  Once you find one you like you will need to copy the html code that goes with it.

You will need to highlight and copy the html code like I have done here. Once you have done that go to your blog dashboard.  Once there click on "Design".

Once you are in your design page you will need to click on "Add a Gadget".

You will need to chose "HTML/JavaScrip".  You do this by clicking the blue plus button next to HTML/JavaScrip.

You will then paste what you copied from the website into the box.  No need to give it a title!  And then click "Save".  It will save you HTML and take you back to your design page.

You now have a pretty blog!!  We will be adding more to it so don't worry!!

I chose a three column background to use.  I will show you later how to make your blog three columns!!

How to post on your blog

First you must click "New Post" on your dashboard.

You will then give your post a title in the top box labeled title.  Then type what you would like in the middle larger box.  If you would like you may give your post a label.  We will use these labels later but for example all of my post that tell you how to blog are labled "How To Blog".  You may choose to publish your post to your blog at that time or save it as a draft to post later on.

You have now just made your first post!!

How to start blogging!

Why blog?  I know a lot of people ask this question!  I didn't know about blogging until I ran across a few and started reading them.  I had a FB page but some of my friends weren't on FB.  So I decided to blog!! And I fell in love.  I love to scrapbook but just don't find the time to do it often.  For me my blog is a daily scrapbook.  I have had severl people ask how to do this or that on their blog and I have spent many hours searching the net to find tips and tricks so I thought I would put them all in one place.  First you must start a blog.

It is very simple just go to blooger and start a blog.  You will have to name your blog as I have named this one I am using for demosrtations jennsampleblog.  You will also use a URL (net address).  I used the same name on this one.  My main blog's name is Jennifer's Journey but the URL is jennifersjoyfuljourney because jennifersjourney was taken.

Next you will choose a template.  Choose the Picture Window template because of changing things later on.

Your blog has been created!!!

Next I will show you how to post to your blog.

Dixie Classic Fair

Yesterday we went off to the fair in a local town.  It was so much fun!  I love the fair and never miss it!  Haha!  There is just something about walking around with the cool air blowing and making your nose cold, the smell of chicken on a stick and roasted corn, the sound of the vendors calling out for you to play their game!  I just love it!!  We went in the afternoon this time so Tempe would be awake and in a good mood.  She did so well too.  She has gotten to where she doesn't want to ride in her stroller but she did great.  We walked and looked at both mine and Josh's favorite parts first, the exhibits.  I like to look at all of the crafts and Josh likes the giant veggies and tractors.  After we checked out the crafts we went over to Yesterday Village which is an old timey part of the fair grounds where they have a few log buildings and a blacksmiths shop.  They always have the tractors there and men demonstrating different arts.  This time it was a man chainsaw carving wood and another making and painting bowls.  And of course the blacksmiths.  We ate roasted corn and then Josh got chicken on a stick for supper and I had a cheeseburger with fries.  I always like to help out the Civitans and people that set up there selling food.  We took Tempe through the animal area too and she got to feed the goats.  She did not like them either!!  They were really cute though!!  :)  We didn't ride rides because I dint feel comfortable about the way they are put up and taken down so much but we did walk around them.  She loved the lights and sounds.  She just kept dancing to the music!!!  Bouncing in my arms and pointing to the small ferris wheel!!!  It was precious and unforgettable.  I am so glad we took her.  Next year she we be walking and talking wanting to do it all!!!
